Persona App Frequently Asked Questions
  • What is Persona?
    Persona is a fun and scientifically grounded mobile coaching app that offers a personalized solution for growing desired personality traits and improving key life outcomes including mental health, physical health, relationships, career and academic success and happiness. Our team is based in London.
  • Where can I download Persona?
    Currently, Persona is only available on the iPhone through the Apple Store, but we plan in the future to extend to Android devices and tablets.
  • How do I use Persona?
    After you download and start the Persona app, we will ask you first what areas of your life you want to improve (e.g., happiness, mental health, physical health, relationships, professional success or academic success). Then, we will present you with a short personality test to evaluate your 5 personality traits. Our algorithm will then recommend a personality trait to improve using our multifaceted programs designed by our psychology team. If you prefer, you can also select a different personality trait to target. The programs run for multiple weeks and every week you will be presented with a psychologist delivered session followed by 2 actions to optionally perform weekly. These actions (known in the field of psychology by behavioral activation) will help you put into use your learnings from the session and drive the change that you want to bring into your life.
  • Can I download the program sessions for offline use?
    We do not currently have this functionality. However, we have plans to develop it in the future.
  • Can I change my personality trait goal?
    Yes! you can change the personality trait goal that you want to target at any time. You can do so from the “This week tab → My goal”. You can then select the program that you want to target among the available programs.
  • Can I change my weekly program plan?
    Yes! you can change the weekly program plan that you want to target at any time. You can do so from the “This week tab → Edit (To the right of This Week's Actions)”. You can then tap on the weekly program plan that you desire to target.
  • Can I see the history of my personality test results?
    Yes! you can see the history of all the tests that you have taken along with the results of these tests. You can do so from the “Stats tab → All tests. You can then tap on the test that you took for which you want to see the results.
  • Do you plan on adding programs for the Agreeableness and Openness traits?
    Yes, we plan on adding these programs in the future. Please keep in mind that we are a small team and that this may take some time. We want to make sure that these programs are deeply grounded in science and that they are delivered to a high standard, just like the rest of our content.
  • How does the 7-day free trial work?
    Upon starting a 7-day trial, you are granted free access to all of our app and content for the duration of the trial period. Upon expiration of the trial period, your account will be automatically renewed and enter into an annual subscription for which you will be charged accordingly. In order to avoid being charged, you need to disable the auto-renewal feature at least 24 hours before the 7th day, as Apple initiates purchase payments 24 hours prior to trial renewal.
  • How do I purchase a subscription?
    Currently, you can only buy a subscription from the Persona app.
  • Where can I check my subscription status?
    You can check your subscription status from “This week tab → Profile avatar icon (At the top right of the ‘This week’ tab) → Manage Subscription → Membership ”. The subscription status will be either “Free” or “Paid”
  • Where can I check my subscription renewal date?
    You can check your subscription status from “This week tab → Profile avatar icon (At the top right of the ‘This week’ tab) → Manage Subscription → Date of Renewal ”.
  • Where can I find my App User ID?
    You can find your App user ID from “This week tab → Profile avatar icon (At the top right of the ‘This week’ tab) → Manage Subscription → App User ID ”. This is your unique account ID that will help us find your account and potentially troubleshoot any issues you may be experiencing.
  • How do I cancel an iOS trial or subscription?
    Subscriptions are directly managed by Apple. This means Persona, or any other app, is unable to cancel or change your subscriptions directly. Here are Apple’s guidelines to help you cancel your subscription. You can also follow these steps: Tap on the Settings app on your device Tap on your Apple ID (your profile photo at the top of the Settings screen) Tap on Subscriptions Tap on Persona To cancel your subscription tap on "Cancel Subscription" in red Important 1: If you are unable to find a cancellation option and instead see resubscription options, it indicates that your subscription has already been terminated. Important 2: if you cannot see any subscription, it is possible that you have a free account that is not associated with any paid trial or subscription, and you can access it without any time limit. To confirm this, navigate to “This week tab → Tap on the profile avatar icon (At the top right of the ‘This week’ tab) → Manage Subscription → Membership ”. The subscription status will be either “Free” or “Paid”.
  • Can I switch from an annual to monthly subscription or vice versa ?
    Monthly to Annual To switch your subscription from monthly to annual, you will need to cancel your current subscription's auto-renewal and then subscribe again for an annual plan. Subscriptions are directly managed by Apple. This means Persona, or any other app, is unable to cancel or change your subscriptions directly. Here are Apple’s guidelines to help you cancel your subscription. You can also follow these steps: Tap on the Settings app on your device Tap on your Apple ID (your profile photo at the top of the Settings screen) Tap on Subscriptions Tap on Persona To cancel your subscription tap on "Cancel Subscription" in red If you see Persona listed, but it only shows an expiration date and no option to cancel, then the subscription has already been canceled. Annual to Monthly Regrettably, we are unable to convert your annual subscription into a monthly subscription. If you wish to discontinue the subscription, you may follow the above steps to cancel it on your device. However, please note that even if you cancel, you will continue to have access to the premium content until the annual subscription concludes next year. After the end of the annual subscription, you can then subscribe for a new monthly subscription if you desire.
  • Can I pause my subscription?
    We do not currently offer this functionality. Stay tuned though, as this might change in the future.
  • How do I turn off auto-renewal?
    Subscriptions are directly managed by Apple. This means Persona, or any other app, is unable to cancel or change your subscriptions directly. Here are Apple’s guidelines to help you cancel auto-renewal. To disable automatic renewal, ensure you cancel your subscription or trial at least 24 hours before the renewal date, as Apple initiates the payment withdrawal process 24 hours prior to the subscription or trial renewal. You can also follow these steps: Tap on the Settings app on your device Tap on your Apple ID (your profile photo at the top of the Settings screen) Tap on Subscriptions Tap on Persona To cancel your subscription tap on "Cancel Subscription" in red
  • How do I request a refund?
    Subscriptions and refunds are directly managed by Apple. This means that Persona has no control and is unable to process a refund to you. You can contact Apple Customer Support from here . Once on the page, go to “Billing & Subscriptions → Subscriptions & Purchases”. From there, you can contact Apple through the options provided on the page.
  • I have had issues completing my purchase.
    Check the following when you try to proceed with a purchase of a subscription: Ensure that your payment method is accepted by Apple. Check that your payment and billing information is updated for Apple. Make sure that the payment method attached to your Apple App Store and that it has enough funds to cover the purchase. Check that your payment method is enabled for recurring transactions or subscriptions (not all prepaid cards allow these types of charges). If you're receiving the message "In-app purchases not allowed" on your Apple device, it is because in-app purchases have been disabled within your iPhone Settings. Go to “Settings → Screen time → Content and Privacy restrictions” to check if in-app purchases are enabled. You can find more information about this here. Once in-app purchases are enabled you should be able to make a purchase from within the app.
  • I paid for a subscription but I can't access it.
    We are sorry for the inconvenience you are encountering to access your purchase. We will do our best to assist you resolve it. This may happen if you have created several accounts using the same Apple ID, and the subscription you purchased is associated with an older account. To assist you better, kindly contact us and explain the problem you are facing, including any email addresses you might have used to create an account previously. Moreover, please send us a copy of the purchase receipt, which would have been forwarded to you by Apple via email after the transaction was completed. This will enable us to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
  • Will my subscription renew automatically?
    Upon signing up to Persona trial or subscription, your account will be automatically renewed. Note that Apple initiates purchase withdrawals 24 hours prior to the date of the trial or subscription renewal. To prevent auto-renewal, you must cancel your trial or subscription at least 24 hours before the renewal date. To locate your renewal date, please follow the steps outlined below: You can check your subscription renewal date from “This week tab → Profile avatar icon (At the top right of the ‘This week’ tab) → Manage Subscription → Date of Renewal ”.
  • Can I receive a receipt for my subscription?
    After a subscription purchase is made, Apple will send a receipt to the email address associated with your Apple App Store account. You can also access your Apple purchase history from here.
